Bulgaria Energy Transition – Strategy Meeting

Pangea leadership was represented Monday February 14, 2022 at a roundtable discussion with Senior Bulgarian policymakers who were visiting Washington DC to garner support for Bulgaria’s Energy Transition and Security especially in light of the current Russia-Ukraine crisis. 

The Embassy had identified Pangea and its partner Baker Hughes as priority companies to join this meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds/Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev and Bulgarian Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov. Pangea later met in a private meeting on the 15th with Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister to discuss economic development issues.

AmCham Bulgaria Representative Ivo Konstantinov speaks to representatives of several companies including Pangea’s own Dan Bicz regarding strategic approaches for Energy Transition in Bulgaria. 

In attendance were Principals from; AESBaker HughesConocoPhillips, ExxonMobile, GE PowerVMWareJacobs Engineering, and X-Energy.

The delegation discussed collaboration opportunities between world class U.S. companies with a goal of diversifying Bulgaria’s energy supplies and increasing its energy independence. EU Green Deal decarbonization targets include massive urban electrification, digitalization and e-mobility. 

Bulgaria seeks to define a green strategy that focuses on building a stronger economy, crafting a solid industrial base, properly training and educating its workforce therefore creating a favorable business environment inside and outside of Bulgaria.
