With 40+ years geothermal experience across six continents, Baker Hughes stands out as one of the world’s top geothermal companies. Baker Hughes has further demonstrated its world leadership in geothermal innovation with two recent initiatives:
- Jan 31, 2023: “Baker Hughes and Fortescue Future Industries to jointly explore scale up and adoption of novel technology solutions for green hydrogen, green ammonia, geothermal projects.” – Sets groundwork for collaboration to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries including mining, steel, and cement.
- Dec 2022: Baker launched Wells2Watts the world’s first closed loop geothermal laboratory.
- Consortium of U.S., French and Japanese leading geothermal companies and Oklahoma State University exploring technologies to convert and retrofit oil and gas wells for geothermal energy, revitalize dry non-productive geothermal wells and develop greenfield opportunities for geothermal renewable electricity production.
- Referred to as Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS), this first-of-its-kind geothermal test facility is located at the Hamm Institute for American Energy in Oklahoma City
- The Wells2Watts consortium is a private industrial partnership between Baker Hughes, Continental Resources, INPEX and Chesapeake Energy Corporation. Additional support from technology providers includes Vallourec and GreenFire Energy
